《Gentle Sunlight》

Design Concept
In a home where children’s laughter forms the everyday backdrop, daylight stretches across wood finishes and vibrant yellow accents, infusing the interior with warmth. To accommodate the needs of young children and foster family interaction, the once-enclosed dining area has been merged with the living room, resulting in an open layout that transforms the public space. This configuration supports both daily family meals and larger gatherings, allowing everyone to engage freely and share moments of companionship.
Anchored in a “child-friendly” design, the rooms incorporate chamfered corners to widen corridors and minimize sharp-angle collisions. The sofa backdrop and entry cabinets likewise adopt curved lines, softening the geometry while extending a gentle visual language throughout the home. At the heart of the residence, the study is defined by a magnetic glass wall that doubles as a family message board, where children and parents can exchange notes or record daily moments. Through these thoughtful gestures, the design strikes a balance between safety and function, fostering an emotional connection that creates a warm and nurturing environment for family life.
Design Techniques
Layered Tone & Rich Gradations
Warm wood textures establish the home’s foundational palette, enriched by the homeowner’s preferred yellow accents. These highlights appear on the TV wall column, the sofa backdrop, the study wall, and the master bedroom headboard, weaving a cohesive chromatic thread throughout the residence. Walls are finished in a countryside-inspired hue that lies between white and cream, revealing subtle shifts in softness as natural light and artificial lighting change angles. In the master bedroom, the pairing of a yellow headboard with blue cabinetry conveys both vibrancy and balance, echoing the lively character of a young family. Methodically connect color preferences across the spaces, shaping an atmosphere that feels bright yet warmly grounded.
Clear Zoning with Open Connections
The layout responds to the diverse needs of a family of five. At the entrance, a full-wall storage cabinetry organizes daily essentials. At the same time, the kitchen integrates extensive modular furniture, incorporating an open appliance niche and dual refrigerators—one dedicated to fresh ingredients and the other to drinks and snacks—supporting both practicality and fluid circulation. Between the dining and living areas, a glass partition defines the study as a semi-open zone, allowing the homeowner to work privately while still keeping an eye on the children. Through the balance of clear zoning and open connectivity, the design delivers a flexible environment where family members can share activities and enjoy independence simultaneously.
Healthy Materials & Eco-Friendly Living
Throughout the home, F1-grade low-formaldehyde furniture boards and highly recyclable cabinetry ensure both durability and circular sustainability. Latex paints reduce volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, reinforcing a strategy that prioritizes both health and ecological responsibility. To address the common issues of vibration and noise transmission in steel-structured buildings, the ceilings incorporate double-layer framing and acoustic insulation, as the flooring utilizes dual soundproof underlays to minimize inter-floor disturbances. These measures elevate daily comfort and preserve peace within the residential building. From material selection to structural treatment and acoustic performance, every decision prioritizes residents’ well-being, creating a home that is sustainable, enduring, and socially considerate.
Living Room

The living room features a TV wall clad in stone-patterned laminate, complemented by a finely detailed wood-slat backdrop that frames a striking accent aside from the vivid yellow column. Below, a terrazzo platform balances natural textures with playful vibrancy. A consistent use of curves defines the space, from the ceiling soffit and TV wall to the sofa’s backdrop, where integrated cove lighting provides gentle illumination and a sense of calm. The interplay of diverse materials and rounded contours establishes a home that harmonizes function with layered visual richness.
Dining Room

The dining area features a combination of side chairs and a soft bench, providing comfort and flexible usage for children. Easy-to-clean wall tiles serve as a durable backdrop, paired with a terrazzo tabletop that conveys both resilience and a lively atmosphere. Cabinetry departs from conventional designs, adopting an open appliance niche tailored for everyday household devices such as bottle sterilizers or bread makers. A sliding socket track further enhances flexibility, adapting effortlessly to changing appliance needs and adding convenience to daily routines.
Multi-Function Room

The multi-function room employs a steel frame paired with ribbed-glass sliding doors, offering both distinctive style and semi-transparency. This design allows natural daylight to filter through softly while maintaining privacy. When closed, the sliding doors a quiet, independent workspace; when opened, they allow easy visual connection with the living area, enabling parents to monitor children’s activities. The space strikes a balance between adaptability and interaction, supporting diverse household rhythms.
Master Bedroom

The original structural columns and bathroom layout limited storage and vanity space in the master bedroom. To resolve this, the designer reconfigured the plan to accommodate a full dressing table and an L-shaped wardrobe, optimizing circulation between grooming and dressing areas. To counteract the potential heaviness of the cabinetry, a curved wood veneer wraps the bedhead wall. It extends toward the window, softening the transitions, visually enlarging the space, and enhancing both warmth and visual continuity.
